Favorite Scrappy Pages of 2011: Part 2

I finally got these pages photographed this morning! I was waiting for some natural light. I realized that I am horrible at taking straight pictures. I will have to work on that next year. Many of these pages came from my sister's album, which was a gift to her for her high school graduation.

This was a fun year for me scrappy wise. I got to meet a friend from the Creating Keepsakes Message Board at Archivers for two scrappy days. I help begin a Woman's Crafting Night at my church in Marquette. I made a new scrappy friend back home in Green Bay. I attended an all day crop at Creations Galore in Green Bay and learned so much more.

Some of my new favorite techniques from this year were sewing on my pages, with my Sew Easy, misting, I love Smootch, and I took the time to study page design and improve my layout abilities. Below are some of my favorite pages from this year!

Door County!

Weekend at our Aunt and Uncle's Lake House

These were some of my favorite pages I did this year. I can't wait to scrap next year. I still have some really fun pages to finish from this past year including a wedding and some awesome adventures of my senior year. Keep a heads up for my next post, the favorite new soup recipe of 2011. It was so good, my roommate renamed it "Crack Soup".

Favorite Scrappy Pages of 2011

Since I am new to the blogging world, I want to share some of my favorite scrapbook pages that I created this year. My biggest project this year was my sister's senior year album, which was her graduation present. I still have to photograph this project, which is easier said than done when it is dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home.

This first page I did as part of a crop for Skrap N Chat, the challenge was to use 2 similar types of products. I used ribbon and embroidery floss for my first similar product. My second similar product was stickles and i-rock gems for bling This was from a weekend trip to Cedarburg. The second page was a fast scrap for Skrap N Chat, the challenge was to use handwriting as part of the titling. Skrap N Chat is having their third birthday crop next month. Come over and join the fun!

Of course, I have to show off some Door County pictures. We spend lots of our summer up in Door County. I am a complete lover of Echo Park papers! More pages to come this weekend! I will debut my sister's album. I put a lot of love and hard work into her pages!

Pictured Rocks Boat Tour

I really wanted to share some of my favorite pictures and stories from this past semester, before Christmas Break is over. Over the next few weeks I will share the beauty of a midwest fall and some of my other adventures.

During October, my parents came up to school to visit as part of their anniversary trip. We finally went out on the Pictured Rocks Boat Tour. We have been meaning to take this trip for years, and we finally decided to go. I think we picked the coldest day of the entire month. We were bundled up in our coats, hats, and mittens.

It was a beautiful ride, quite wavy, but the sights were gorgeous. We were out for almost 3 hours. The Pictured Rocks National Shoreline is east of Munising, MI. This town is about 45 minutes from my campus. We had two awesome tourguides, who were very funny. They started out the day with "if you don't like roller coaster rides...get off NOW". And sure enough people did. It was not a smooth ride by any means. There were a lot of sick looking people in the cabin below. But it was totally worth the view. I took lots and lots of pictures.

We had a pretty awesome time on our tour. The trees were just starting to change colors, and the waterfalls were active. We had a terrible storm the night prior, so there were even some new bolder that had fallen off with all the wave activity.

I was very impressed with the tour company we used. Look this group up if you are ever in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. http://www.picturedrocks.com/Home.php I am so glad we finally got the chance to take this day trip. We finished off the day at the sculpture walk and then pizza.

College Decorating

I'm a college student. So my budget is pretty small for decorating my first apartment. I made a few projects that I wanted to share.

I saw a mixed media project at a boutique in Cedarburg, WI, over the summer. I accidentally deleted the picture out of my phone. I created this little project, which hangs on the wall of my kitchen. I cut everything from my cricut, using the Create a Critter Cartridge. I glued it down, did all the stitching by hand, with help from my sew easy, and then modge podged it all. I think it is a cute addition to my apartment.

My second project was a little bit more of an undertaking. I needed a better system for my growing jewelry collection. I picked out a cute fabric at Joanns, and adhered it to cork board to form my necklace and bracelet boards. Once the fabric dried I hot glued on buttons as hooks along with the ribbon underneath for added looks. It was a pretty easy project. Next time I would spread out the tacky glue with a paint brush so it dried nicer. I also had to paint the buttons with metallic paint instead of the initial spray paint which didn't work.

On my dresser is the earring rack I made. It was super easy. I covered a picture frame in the same fabric, and then tacked on some wire. I love being ale to display all my jewelry. I wear it so much more now!

My latest project!

During the craziness of finals week, I wanted to make something for my students. This year, as part of my program, I have been teaching in a middle school resource room, for students with cognitive impairments. I wanted to make them a little something for the holidays.

So I put together a big card. I folded a piece of poster board in half. I wanted to do something with a lot of texture for one of my students with very special needs. I knew this student would love being able to feel all the different textures. I used six different cuttlebug embossing folders and a bunch of blue scraps, to mimic a snowy sky. I went as far as using stickles and ribbon to give it a little extra something.

I gave the card to the students today, and they loved it! This was a fun little project to break up finals week.

My First Post!

I have finally joined the blogging world! I have been looking forward to getting my blog up and going. I am going to do a mix of posts: Scrapbooking projects, classroom projects, cooking, and much more. I can't wait to share my experiences when I start student teaching!
