Red White and Blue Blog Hop

Welcome to the Independence Day Blog Hop. If you didn't start at Amanda's Blog, you can follow the link and see everyone's projects. You should have arrived here from Adele's Blog.

Our challenge for this blog hop was to use the colors Red, White, and Blue. I really didn't know what I wanted to make for this challenge, but this paper from the Echo Park Collection-Wintertime, was perfect. I've been working on winter pictures lately, and this paper is just gorgeous.

This page is all about a sledding trip this past winter. We had a lunch break between classes on Tuesday. One of my friends is from California and has never went sledding before. This was our senior year of college, and we had a lot of things to do on our bucket list. So we decided one day instead of eating that we were going to pack up our sleds and snow gear, and sled on campus. Except we only had two sleds and four people.

We quickly realized why you can't sled on campus. The hill is very steep....and drops right down into a faculty parking lot. We had fun making trains on our sleds and falling off before flying over the snow banks. We made the most of our last winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

A little more about my page. The patterned paper is from Echo Park. I embossed the red and navy card stock with my Cuttlebug. Then I sanded them down with my Tim Holtz Sanding Tool. I dressed up the circles with some snowflakes and embellished them with glitter and my i-Rock. The snowflakes trail is stitched with my Sew Easy and embellished with Liquid Pearls.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I will draw for a prize on Sunday night (7/1) at 8pm EST. To enter become a follower of my blog, and tell me your favorite memory of Wintertime. Your next stop will be Robyn's blog.

Stay tuned for lots more of my winter adventures coming soon!

  1. That is ADORABLE!! No "winter" here in the south, but I LOVED when we had snow in Louisiana on CHRISTMAS DAY a couple of years ago!!!
Funny story about the faculty parking lot! LOL

  2. Megan, love all the little details like the embossing, sanding, sewing, etc. If I just had some snowy pics I think I would work on a LO with them today just to get a psychological relief from our extremely hot weather.

  3. I just became a follower of your blog. Love your LO. Red white and blue is a perfect combination for a winter LO. My favorite memory of wintertime is driving through the snow, in a 4-wheel drive, after a big storm. :)

  4. I love your LO! I never would have thought to use R,W and B for winter. It works just beautifully! I think one of my favorite winter memories was the year we traveled to my dd's for Christmas when my dgs was about 2! The roads were good when we traveled, it started snowing early Christmas morning, so we had a beautiful "White Christmas" in her new home, played in the snow and sledded in the nieghborhood, and then over-night it rained, so the roads were all clear for the "day after Christmas" shopping we had planned! We made many fun memories on that trip! ~Bev~

  7. So pretty! Love the twist on red, white, and blue to be a snow layout instead of patriotic, which is where my mind goes when I hear those colors together. Love the story of taking your friend sledding. My favorite winter memory is going sledding down the street we lived on (aptly named Hill St.) before the plows would come through and move the snow.

  9. I love when my dad built this snow hill that had walls on the sides and it had two lanes so we could race to see who got to the bottom first. It went really fast and was super fun. I am a new follower.

  11. I love your circles and snowflakes!! The embossing and the Liquid Pearls are perfect touches!!! My favourite part of wintertime is when there's a light snowfall that lasts all afternoon. I love watching the flakes fall slowly and being snuggled up inside all day.

  12. Hi Megan! Thanks for the invite to your blog hop from over on SNC! Your LO is so cute. I love the snowflakes on the paper and the cutouts to with them. So many great details on it like the embossed mats under the snowflakes punched into circles! You ladies must have really enjoyed your slide down the hill...as long as you didn't run into any of the staff! :D
    Great work! :)

  13. Great LO!!! My favorite part of winter time is skating with family and then going for a hot beverage!! There is nothing better than the cold and snow and as much as I complain sometimes, winter wouldn't be the same without the snow.
